How to Discover Your Hidden Potential

Potential is defined as the inherent ability or capacity for development, growth or coming into being. Each of us has the capacity to become someone great which results in us doing great things. Unfortunately, a lot of people never discover the potential they have within themselves. Some of the greatest athletes never play a game and some of the greatest actors never act a part on a major stage simply because they never realize their true potential.

The first key we need to look at when it comes to discovering hidden potential is the environment.

Environment

We are created to flourish in a specific environment. A palm tree will not flourish in Virginia and an pineapple tree will not flourish in Maine simply because of the environment. These fruit trees require a specific environment in order to prosper. There is a specific climate required by these trees and this climate does exists everywhere.

Likewise, you are created for a specific environment. There is a specific climate that you require in order to prosper. You cannot just do anything and expect to prosper. You cannot be connected to just anyone and expect to prosper. Location and relationships are key components in your environment. Relationships create specific climates and sometimes the climate that is being produced by the relationships you are in are not conducive to a healthy lifestyle, peace and prosperity.

You can have great potential but if you are not in the right environment you will struggle to prosper. The right environment will place a demand on your potential. The right environment is also your domain. It becomes the area where you dominate. Michael Jordan dominated the game of basketball because that was his domain. It was the right environment for him. He was specifically gifted, crafted and designed for that domain. Likewise, the right environment presents opportunities that you are specifically gifted, crafted and designed to dominate.

Right People

The second key we will consider when it comes to discovering your hidden potential has to do with the right people. Wisdom teaches that if we remove bad people from our lives then bad things will stop happening. In a lot of cases wrong people are occupying time and space that the right people need to occupy in our lives. In other words, many of us are so caught up and occupied with the wrong people that we do not have time to even meet the right people.

There are specific people that you will meet in life who will be instrumental in helping you discover your hidden potential. These people will see potential in you in ways that you've yet to see. They will push you and encourage you to pursue greatness in life. They will be willing to invest time and commit other resources to you that will promote the discovery of your potential. Their motive for investing in you and committing resources to you is sincere in that they only want to see you prosper and become all you can be. In some instances these people may even become mentors. They have the resources to promote your success. Keep in mind the resources they have may be wisdom, knowledge or skill. While the wrong people may be in possession of material resources that can feed you or entertain you, they will lack the resources required to help you discover your potential.

Every one of us has a hidden treasure. Some of us will discover that treasure and go on to live successful lives. Others will never discover their treasure and therefore never accomplish the great things they have the potential to accomplish in life.
